David Villavicencio
Founder & Lead Engineer
Waypoint LLC was founded by David Villavicencio, a first-generation immigrant and full-stack engineer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, driven by a mission to make technology more accessible and impactful for underserved communities and early-stage builders.
Growing up navigating barriers to access in education, opportunity, and resources, David developed a deep understanding of how powerful the right tools—and the lack of them—can be. That perspective now shapes Waypoint's core philosophy: building technology that doesn't just function, but creates real leverage for people trying to build something of their own.
Before founding Waypoint LLC, David worked on multiple software projects ranging from full-stack web platforms to AI-driven systems, including tools for personalized recommendations, data aggregation, and intelligent automation. His work consistently centers around one idea: reducing friction between an idea and execution.
